Description

TDI Technical Sidemount Diver

The course is an advanced scuba diving training program designed for experienced divers who wish to develop skills in technical diving, such as decompression or diving in overhead environments. This course takes your diving skills to the next level, extended dive times, deeper depths, and more complex dive profiles. The course can be extended by adding additional cylinders (deco/stage) for even greater versatility and capability.

Benefits of TDI Technical Sidemount Diving

  • Extended Dive Times: Leverage stage cylinders to maximize underwater duration.
  • Advanced Dive Planning: Master techniques for executing more complex and deeper dives.
  • Enhanced Safety: Utilize additional gas reserves and redundancy for greater confidence.
  • Optimized Equipment Management: Refine your ability to handle multiple cylinders efficiently.
  • Access to Tighter Spaces: Enable penetration of narrower entrances, ideal for wreck or cave exploration.

What You Will Learn

This course builds upon foundational sidemount and technical diving skills, with a strong focus on the safe and effective use of stage cylinders. You’ll gain advanced knowledge and techniques that enhance your diving safety and efficiency.

  • Dive Planning & Gas Management: Learn the principles of gas matching and managing independent cylinders.
  • Emergency Procedures: Gain proficiency in sidemount-specific safety protocols, including gas switching and emergency drills.
  • Equipment Configuration: Understand and practice the proper setup of stage cylinders and sidemount systems.
  • Specialized Diving Techniques: Develop skills for buoyancy control, trim, propulsion, and deploying lift bags.

Course Structure

  1. Classroom Session:
Begin with an interactive session covering the theory of advanced sidemount diving. Topics include gas management, dive planning, and emergency procedures specific to stage cylinder use.
  2. Confined Water Practice:
Practice essential skills in a controlled, shallow water environment. Refine techniques for stage cylinder setup, buoyancy control, and emergency response drills.
  3. Open-Water Training:
Apply your skills in real-world conditions with supervised open-water dives. These dives focus on advanced dive planning, cylinder handling, and executing technical dive profiles.

Skill Development

You will develop advanced diving skills through structured training, including:

  • Equipment configuration and maintenance for stage cylinders.
  • Precision buoyancy and trim control in sidemount configuration.
  • Gas management and switching techniques.
  • Problem-solving and emergency drills specific to sidemount diving.
  • Deployment of lift bags and surface markers.

Course Duration:

  • 6 hours of theory and equipment configuration.
  • 4 open-water dives to practice and perfect skills.

What’s Included

  • TDI Technical Sidemount Diver Certification.
  • E-learning.

Not Included:

  • Dive site entry fees.
